How do you mix the perfect shade? This question captivated Paul Flad and Paul Scherer, two students from Herzog-Johann-Gymnasium in Simmern, Germany. Their answer: TintTranslate, a smart color-mixing machine that uses an app to replicate the exact shade selected from a photo. With this innovative idea, they aim to make precise color mixing accessible to artists, schools, and creative minds everywhere.
Under the name Eucarida, the duo developed a solution that utilizes five base tones and a mobile app. Their business plan impressed the jury of the "Jugend gründet" competition, securing them a spot among the top finalists from over 1,100 entries.
On June 25, they participated in the national finals in Stuttgart, where they took home the first place!
A part of their success story unfolded right here with us: with technical know-how, 3D-printed components, materials from our stockroom, hands-on support, and a touch of marketing, we helped Paul and Paul elevate their idea to the next level. Despite a tight schedule filled with school, class trips, and a flurry of GitLab messages, they managed to win the top prize with their color-mixing machine.
Now, they might be heading for their next big milestone: Silicon Valley. We are proud to be part of this great story and extend our heartfelt congratulations on their success!
