From Food Blogger to World Champion – Our Head Chef on the Radio

Christoph Steinhauser, head chef at the HAHN Automation Group canteen in Rheinböllen, is defined by his passion for cooking, creativity, and a touch of spontaneity. He recently appeared on RPR1 radio, where he shared an extraordinary chapter of his culinary journey with host Kunze.

On February 3, he spoke about his unexpected victory at the 2017 Kale World Championship in Oldenburg. His participation in the competition was almost accidental. While living in Hamburg, he co-ran a food blog with a photography studio owner. When new content was needed, he decided on a whim to enter the competition. With a recipe he developed himself, he ultimately won the world championship title — a success that still makes for a remarkable story today.

He also appeared on the radio program "100% Rheinland-Pfalz — Wir starten ins Wochenende mit Kunze," where he presented a recipe for the weekend:
Red mullet with sour cherry and beetroot risotto, beurre blanc, and roasted hazelnuts — a dish that reflects creativity and high culinary standards.

You can find the recipe on the RPR1 website:

This same dedication shapes everyday life at the Rheinböllen canteen. Christoph and his team provide fresh and varied meals daily, including meat and fish options, vegetarian and vegan dishes, weekly soups, and fresh salad bars.

For several weeks now, the canteen has also been open to outside guests. Interested visitors can subscribe to the newsletter here to receive weekly menus and reserve a table in advance.

Christoph Steinhauser demonstrates that quality, creativity, and enthusiasm are the essential ingredients for lasting success, whether on the radio or in the kitchen.
